Australian and New Zealand Passport holders holidaying in France for less than three months do not require a visa.

Smart Traveller - A must see destination

France is a party to the Schengen Agreement which has effectively opened the borders of most European countries. Therefore if one Schengen Agreement country such as France or the UK issues a visitor with a visa, it is valid in all the other Schengen countries.

You must have a valid passport with at expiry date of at least six months after your departure date from Australia.

Australia has a working holiday maker visa program with France now so Australians aged between 18 and 30 years are able to live and work in France for up to 12 months.

Look after your passport! An Australian passport is highly prized on the black market.

It is a good idea to take a colur scan of your passport, drivers licence and other important documents and email it to a web based email address like a hotmail account. That way if your documents are lost or stolen you can email them directly to the Embassy to speed up processing of new ones.
