France has lagged slightly behind the Anglo world in internet take up but has made rapid gains lately.

Internet Cafes
Most decent sized towns in France now have an Internet Cafes are widespread in France. See list on this site.

Keyboard Differences
One thing to remember about French computers is that the letters on the keyboard are laid out completely different. Touch typists will have to revert back to 'hunt & peck' like everyone else.

The reason for the difference is that certain letters get used much more often in French than in English. Q and W are good examles. In English we have what, when, why, where etc while in French W is barely even used. Q is used extensively in French Qui, Quoi, Quand etc so it is located in a more prominent position on the keyboard. Then there are all those little accents and fiddly bits peculiar to French that have to be fitted in.

WiFi Hotspots
Search the map on this site for WiFi hotspots per departement. Many airports, hotels and convention centres have free WiFi. Accor Hotels are putting WiFi in all of their hotels from Sofitel right down to Ibis and Formule 1.

Increasing numbers of rental properties have WiFi as many of them are owned by the more net savvy Brits.
