Southern France has many beautiful rivers that are ideal for canoeing such as the Ardeche, Ceze, Dordogne, Drome, Gard, Herault, Orb, Sorgue, Tarn and Vezere. Many of thses rivers have numerous medieval villages and chateaux lining their banks.

Both guided and self guided trips are available for half day or extended accommodated or camping trips. There are rivers with challenging rapids and also more sedate ones ideal for family groups.

Remember that summer is really the only viable season for canoeing, but it is a relatively cheap experience.
