2007 Rugby World Cup hosted by France from 7 September to 20 October.

The Monaco Grand Prix is a tight street racing circuit held annually in the tiny principality. The race will be held on 27 May 2007.

The Le Mans 24 Hour Race is on 16-17 June 2007 near the city of Le Mans in the Pays-de-la-Loire Region of western France

The French Open Tennis Tournament at Roland Garros tennis centre in Paris from 27 May to 10 June 2007.

Fetes or Ferria in the south of France are a real experience in the summer months. Practically every city, town and village in the south of France has their annual ferria. These are huge celebrations that take over whole towns and cities for a weekend. Nimes, Bayonne, Dax are famous in France and also involve real bull fighting. These cities with their proximity to Spain share a love of Corrida (bullfighting) and whilst it’s not everyone’s cup of tea it certainly adds to the crazy atmosphere. This is where you will see the French really let their hair down B&S style.

The Fete de Bayonne is a Basque style street party that takes over the whole city of Bayonne in southern Aquitaine. There is bullfighting and and plenty of other traditional entertainment. Held in July each year - Wear white!

Fete de Dax is another large festival in the southwest held every August. Bullfighting and the acrobatic Course Landaise (jumping over bulls) are a major feature.

The Feria de Nimes is Languedoc's biggest festival that sees this ancient Roman city heaving with revellers every August

The Cannes Film Festival (16-27 May 2007) is held in the ritzy beachside town of Cannes near Nice on the Cote d'Azur.

Beaujolais Festivals held throughout this wine making region of Bourgogne around the third Thursday of November every year.

The annual Salon d'Agriculture held in Paris is one of Europe's largest agricultural expositions and may be an interesting diversion for Aussies with in an interest in things country.

Printemps de Bourges is France's main world music festival and is held in late April (printemps means spring) in the beautiful city of Bourges in the Centre Region.

Bastille Day
is France's Independence Day equivalent. The country comes to a standstill on 14 July every year with parades and events everywhere. The largest and most spectacular parade is the main one on the Champs Elysee in Paris where a good chunk of France's military is on display.

The Nice Jazz Festival (18-25 July) is one of Europe's largest and includes 75 concerts over 8 days with over 500 musicians involved.
