Accommodation
in France is incredibly varied and not necessarily expensive.
It is possible to rent a chateau or country house or stay on a working vineyard
or farm (Gites Ruraux). There are canals crisscrossing the country with a
range of different live onboard canal boats available. Spas and health resorts
are found all around the coastal and alpine areas and are surprisingly good
value.
There is a bewildering array of Bed & Breakfast (called Chambre d'Hotes)
and boutique accommodation that can be quite reasonably priced. There are
special ultra modern holiday villages hidden away in forests that are completely
self sufficient.
There is the usual offering of multi-national hotel chains albiet with a bit
of French flair. There are modern and very cheap motorway style hotels ideal
for a cheap night's sleep on the move. Even some of the many themeparks have
their own accommodation.
Large coastal resorts and
holiday villages offer a different experience too.
